The Glendale Heights Imagine Together team joined in on the fun at Glendale Heights Fest last weekend to spread the word about the Comprehensive Plan and Parks Master Plan. As part of the two-day pop-up, the planning team asked residents and visitors to share what they love about the Village and what they envision for its future.
Here’s a brief summary of what we heard:
- Residents value the calm, peaceful, and family-oriented nature of Glendale Heights
- Glendale Heights Fest is both a major draw to the Village and a point of pride for its residents. Some former residents still come back to enjoy the fun and sense of community.
- Community parks like Camera Park and Nazos Park are beloved, but community members want to see improved equipment and programming.
- Participants recommended Glendale Heights look to neighboring communities for inspiration regarding park equipment and programs.
- New parks and facilities were desired by residents with features like kids’ play places, basketball, swings, slides, and athletic fields.
- There is an appetite for more shopping and dining destinations in town.
- Residents would like to see more trees and shade throughout the community.

It’s clear that Glendale Heights residents are fond of their community and have plenty of ideas to make it even better! Feedback heard at this pop-up will help the planning team better understand what makes Glendale Heights special and what residents want to see in the future. This event, along with feedback from other engagement, will be considered throughout the plan process.
