About the Plan

The Village of Glendale Heights is developing a Comprehensive Community Plan + Parks Master Plan to guide land use, parks, and recreation decisions for the next 10–15 years. This plan will help shape where future housing and businesses are located, how residents access parks and recreational amenities, and how the community grows while preserving what matters most to residents. In the coming months, residents are invited to share their input through public workshops, surveys, and open houses.

We encourage everyone to get involved and help shape the future of Glendale Heights. Subscribe below for updates on the project and to learn how to get involved!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Comprehensive Community Plan?

A Comprehensive Community Plan is a municipality’s roadmap for managing change and shaping the future. It fuses findings from community outreach with data and local analysis to create a framework for proactive decision-making.

What is a Parks Master Plan?

The Village manages parks in the community and operates recreational programming. The Village will use a Parks Master Plan to evaluate the current state of parks and recreation and decide how to best provide programs and facilities to its residents.

How will plan priorities be determined?

Priorities are shaped by findings from: (1) public input to understand shared goals, (2) analysis of data and Village conditions, and (3) experience and expertise of the planning team. Insight and input from residents, Village Boards & Committees, organizations, and staff will inform the big picture and guiding principles of the Plans.

Who is involved in the planning process?

First and foremost, the Glendale Heights residents! This is your community and we hope to have participation from as many residents, business owners, and organizations as possible. Village staff and the Steering Committee are taking the lead on the planning process, with technical assistance from our consultant team led by Teska Associates, Inc., with support from COLLABO Planning and Recreation Results.

How will the plans get used?

After the planning process, the Adopted Plans will serve as a tool for decision makers. This often comes into play at budgeting times when deciding how to allocate Village resources, and with policy decisions that shape quality of life. Both the planning process and deliverables initiate proactive discussions to avoid reactive decisions.
